BOMBARDIER CHALLENGER 605

  • Passengers 12

With a cabin that ranks among the widest in its category, the Bombardier Challenger 605 delivers an outstanding travel experience for up to 12 passengers, combined with the range capability to operate comfortably on intercontinental routes.

Combining generous cabin space with strong range performance, the Challenger 605 provides a refined onboard environment and remains one of the most capable and respected business jets in its segment.

About this aircraft

• The Challenger 605 was unveiled in 2006 as an enhanced development of the Challenger 604. Production concluded in 2016 after close to 300 aircraft had been delivered worldwide.
• With seating for up to 12 travellers and the ability to fly for around eight hours nonstop, the aircraft is well suited for transatlantic operations without refuelling, as well as short- and medium-range missions.
• The in-flight accessible baggage compartment provides capacity for approximately 12 suitcases, along with additional carry-on items.
• The model was later succeeded by the Challenger 650, introduced in 2015.

Interior design

The redesigned cabin of the Challenger 605 further enhanced the already impressive interior of the Challenger 604, creating an even more spacious environment within one of the widest cabins in its category. Bombardier incorporated LED lighting throughout the cabin to provide a more refined ambience and increased the size of the windows to allow greater amounts of natural light inside. The aircraft also features a newly designed galley, expanded storage options and more ergonomically optimised work areas for passengers.

As with the Challenger 604, the cabin can be arranged to accommodate up to 12 passengers in a conference-style layout, with configuration options including double-club seating, forward-club or half-club arrangements, as well as divan layouts. Depending on the selected configuration, seating positions can be converted into up to five sleeping surfaces during flight. The forward galley enables the preparation and service of both hot and cold meals and beverages.

Below are two common cabin configurations typically found on board the Challenger 605.

Interesting facts to know before you fly
• When configured for 12 passengers, the seating can be transformed into five beds during flight, making the aircraft particularly suitable for overnight missions.
• The cabin offers significantly greater width compared to aircraft such as the Embraer Legacy 600, a competitor within the large business jet segment.
• Despite its size, the Challenger 605 is capable of performing steeper approach profiles, allowing operations to and from airports such as London City.
• Enhancements over the Challenger 604 include increased natural light, larger LCD cabin displays, improved fold-out work tables, upgraded acoustic insulation for reduced noise levels and a refined cabin management electronic system. The lavatory facilities were also upgraded.

Technological features

The Bombardier Challenger 605 is powered by two General Electric CF34-3B engines, each producing approximately 8,729 lbs of thrust, with an average fuel consumption of around 976 litres per hour.

The flight deck is equipped with the advanced Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite, providing pilots with clear, intuitive access to essential flight data through multiple LCD displays. A fully digital cabin management system enhances the passenger experience, offering touch-screen controls in VIP seating areas and the galley for convenient access to entertainment features and high-speed internet connectivity.

History
Building on the proven success of the Challenger 604, Bombardier preserved its most valued characteristics while introducing a range of modern interior enhancements. Launched in 2006, the Challenger 605 featured larger windows designed to increase natural light in the cabin, expanded LCD cabin displays, improved work surfaces, enhanced ambient lighting, upgraded acoustic insulation and a refined cabin electronic system. Additional improvements included increased galley storage capacity and a redesigned lavatory.

Following close to 300 aircraft deliveries, production of the Challenger 605 concluded in 2015, when Bombardier introduced the Challenger 650, offering further cabin refinements and upgraded avionics technology.
